Consumer complaints about food packaging

Today, the public’s perception of food packaging is primarily negative, which mostly triggered by factors such as use (fossil) resources, waste generation, and (marine) littering. Accordingly, (re)design focusing in particular on environmental sustainability (e.g., recyclability). However, it seems that parallel, consumer experience satisfaction continue to decline, reflected numerous online complaints about packaging. Building related European legislation, dissatisfaction, complaint behavior (CCB) literature, this study aims analyze identify underlying causes using Netnography method. Over 250 were collected, categorized, evaluated based images shared online, a result 12 design categories identified significant dissatisfaction among consumers. These include implies higher quality or quantity products through text-based information, elements graphics, certain sizes, windows, sleeves well seemingly excessive material.
